(1) in order to go any where. Exodus 7:23, פַּרְעֹה וַיָּבאֹ וַיִּפֶן, 10:6 32:15 Genesis 18:22; Deuteronomy 9:15, 10:5 16:7 sometimes with the addition of a dat. pleon., Deuteronomy 1:40, 2:3 Joshua 22:4 hence

(β) to turn itself in coming, approaching, in the phrase, לִפְנוֹת הַבֹּקֶר when the morning draws on, at morning, Exodus 14:27; Judges 19:26; Psalms 46:6 לִפְנוֹת עֶרֶב when the evening draws on, at evening, Genesis 24:63; Deuteronomy 23:12.
