(Heb. Vashni', וִשְׁנַי , my strength, or strong; Sept. Σανί; Vulg. Vasseni), the first-born of Samuel according to 1 Chronicles 6:28 [Hebrews 13]; but 1 Samuel 8:2 shows that the true reading should be וְשֵׁנַי, "the second," and that the name of Joel; the eldest son, has dropped out. (See SAMUEL).
