(Ξανθικός ), the name of the sixth month among the Seleucid Syrians (2 Maccabees 11:30; 2 Maccabees 11:33; 2 Maccabees 11:38 [2 Maccabees 12:1]), i.e., in the Macedonian calendar (Ideler, Handb. d. Chronol. 1:392 sq.). Josephus makes it parallel with the Jewish Nisan (Ant. 1:3, 3; 3:10, 5; comp. War, 5:3, 1). (See MONTH).
