an English Unitarian minister, who afterwards emigrated to America, was born at Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, in 1744. He was educated at the Academy of Daventry; became minister at Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, in 1770; was a friend to the Americans during the Revolution; introduced inoculation for small-pox among his poor neighbors, attending some thirteen hundred cases; removed to America, arriving in Boston with his family, June 12, 1793; settled on a farm at Brattleborough, Vermont, in 1794, residing there and preaching to the Society in the town until his death, which occurred December 27, 1827.
