Weber, Johann Georg
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
a Protestant theologian of Germany, was born at Herwigsdorf, near Zittau, July 10, 1687. He studied at Leipsic, and was appointed there in 1718 preacher in the university church. In 1719 he was called to Weimar, where he was made chief court preacher in 1720. In 1729 he was made general superintendent and chief preacher of St. Paul and St. Peter's, at the same time having the superintendence of the gymnasium there. He died November 24, 1753. Besides a number of ascetical works, he published, Dissertatio de Sacris Nocturnis (Lips. 1718): — Odo Ecclesiasticus in Augustana Confessione Triumphans (Vimarise, 1730): — Doctrina Tutior de Descensu Christi ad Inferos, etc. (ibid. 1731): — O 'AMHN 'AMHN, hoc est, Commentatio Exegetico-theologica in Amen Evangelicum, vel Veritatem Doctrinae Evangelicta Jure jurando Christi Confirmatam, etc. (Jense, 1734).
