(Heb. Ummah', עֻמָּה, union, as often; Sept. Ἀμμά v.r. Ἀρχώβ or Ἀρχόβ,Vulg. — Almma), a town of the tribe of Asher, mentioned between Achzib and Aphek (Joshua 19:30). Its site was evidently unknown to Eusebius and Jerome (Onomast. s.v. "Amma"). Dr. Thomson suggests (Bibliotheca Sacra, 1855,' p. 822) that it may be the modern village Aolam, situated on the coast about five miles E.N.E. of Ras en-Nakurahi and described by him as a large ruin with excellent water and fig- trees.(Land and Book, 2, 156). The Kefr Ammieih suggested by Keil (Comment. ad loc.) is quite beyond the boundaries of the tribe.
