Smith, Isaac (2),
a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, was born in Wilmington, Vt., Nov. 1, 1817. He first joined the Methodist Episcopal Church, but relapsed into a backslidden state. At the age of twenty-one was reclaimed and united with the Baptist Church. He was educated at Oberlin, and at Newbury Seminary, Vt. While in the latter institution he reunited himself with the Methodist Church, and was licensed to preach. In 1843 he joined the New Hampshire Conference, and at its division became a member of the Vermont Conference. In 1852 he was transferred to the New England Conference, in which he continued to render effective service until a few months previous to his death, in Chicopee, Mass., July 16, 1860.
