a Presbyterian minister, was born in Wilmington, Del., about the year 1772; graduated at Hampden Sidney College in 1791; studied theology privately; was licensed by Redstone Presbytery Nov. 14, 1792; was ordained and installed by the same presbytery as pastor of the congregations of George's Creek and the Tent in Fayette Co., Pa., Aug. 20, 1794, and of the congregations of Rehoboth and Roundhill. Westmoreland Co., in 1798, where he remained until his death, Aug. 24, 1803. Mr. Smith was a well- read divine, and an earnest and faithful preacher. See Sprague, Annals of the Amer.
