(Σισίννης ), the form in which the name of TATNAI (See TATNAI) (q.v.) of the Heb. text (Ezra 5:3; Ezra 5:6; Ezra 6:6; Ezra 6:13) appears in the Apocrypha (1 Esdras 6:3; 1 Esdras 6:7; 1 Esdras 7:1) and Josephus (Ant. 11, 4, 5, 7), being that of the governor of Syria and Phoenicia under Darius, and a contemporary of Zerubbabel, who attempted to stop the rebuilding of the Temple, but was ordered by Darius, after consulting the archives of Cyrus's reign, to adopt the opposite course, and to forward the plans of Zerubbabel.
