[some Shoba'i] (Heb. Shobay', שֹׁבִי [but always in pause, as שֹׁבָי ], taking captive [Gesen.], or glorious [Furst]; Sept. Σεβαϊ v v.r. Σαβί, etc.), one of the heads of the Levitical family of doorkeepers of the Temple, whose posterity returned from Babylon with Zerubbabel (Ezra 2:42; Nehemiah 7:45). B.C. long ante 536.
