an English divine, flourished in the second half of the 17th century, first at London as minister at the Weigh-house, and later, from 1767, at Hackney. He died near the opening of this century. He published, The Nonconformist' Memorial, being an Account of the Lives, Sufferings, and Printed Works of the Two Thousand Ministers ejected Aug. 24,1666 [1662]; originally written by E. Calamy, D.D., abridged, corrected, and methodized, with many additional Anecdotes and several new Lives (2d ed. Lond. 1802, 3 vols. 8vo). This edition contains many important additions and corrections. The first was published in 1774: The Protestant Dissenter's Catechism, containing, I, A brief History of the Nonconformists; II, The Reasons of the Dissent from the National Church (8th ed. Lond. 1782, 12mo) Sermon on 2 Timothy 1:12, The Dying Believer's Confidence and Joy in Christ [Funeral]; to which is added an Oration, by Samuel Morton Savage, D.D. (ibid. 1778, 8vo).
