Laniado
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
(or LANADO), Abraham BEN-ISAAC, an Italian rabbi and comtmentator, flourished in the latter half of the 16th and the first half of the 17th century. He wrote a work on the mysteries of the Mosaic law, entitled אברהם מגן, The Shield of Abraham, which consists of seventeen treatises and discourses on circumcision, marriage, almsgiving, confession of sins, repentance, and mourning for the dead. It was printed in Venice in 1603, and is very highly esteemed by the Jews: — A commentary on the Song of Songs, entitled נקדות הכס Š, Studs of Silver, which was edited by Moses Laniado, with the Hebrew text, the Commentary of Rashi, the Chaldee Paraphrase, with a Spanish translation by the editor, printed in Hebrew characters (Venice, 1619). He also wrote a commentary on the Pentateuch, and a commentary on Ruth, Lamentations, Ecclesiastes, and Esther, which have not as yet been published.
