Lami, Francois
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
a French Benedictine, was born at Montireau, near Chartres, in 1636, and died at St. Denis, April 4, 1711. After having served in the army, he embraced a monastic life at the age of twenty-three. In spite of his controversies with Bossuet, Malebranche, Arnauld, Nicole, Duguet, and others, he was highly esteemed by all who knew him for his sincerity and piety.
