(Λακεδαιμόνιος, 2 Maccabees 5:9 elsewhere Σπαρτιάτης ). an inhabitant of Lacedaemon or Sparta, in Greece, with whom the Jews at one time claimed kindred (1 Maccabees 12:2; 1 Maccabees 12:5-6; 1 Maccabees 12:20-21; 1 Maccabees 14:20; 1 Maccabees 14:23; 1 Maccabees 15:23). (See SPARTA).
