Kendall, George (2)
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
or a Methodist minister, was born about the year 1815, was converted at the age of 16, and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church. In 1845 he joined the Southern Church. He was licensed to preach about 1858, and upon the reorganization of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Georgia after the war, he was among the first to return to the Northern Church. He was ordained deacon by bishop Clark at Murfreesborough, Tenn., and continued to labor as a missionary among his people until the organization of this Conference, when he was received on trial and appointed to Clayton Circuit. In 1868 he was appointed to Clark Chapel, Atlanta, and in 1869 and 1870 to White Water Circuit. He died there April 12,1871. His dying words, "The gates are open and I must go," give assurance that he passed away as one of the fathers, after a useful and happy life, to the rest that remaineth to the people of God.-Minutes of Conferences, 1871, p. 278.
