(יְהוּד, Yehud', Chald., Daniel 5:13, last clause; "Judaea" in Ezra 5:8; elsewhere "Judah;" Ι᾿ουδαῖα, Luke 23:5; John 7:1; elsewhere "Judah"), the nation of the Jews, i.e. the kingdom of JUDAH, later JUDAEA. "Jewry" also occurs frequently in the A.V. of the Apocrypha (1 Esdras 1:32; 1 Esdras 2:4; 1 Esdras 4:49; 1 Esdras 5:7-8; 1 Esdras 5:57; 1 Esdras 6:1; 1 Esdras 8:81; 1 Esdras 9:3; Bel 33; 2 Maccabees 10:24).
