(Heb. Yerioth', יְרַיעוֹת, timidity, otherwise curtains; Ι᾿εριώθ ), a person apparently named as the latter of the first two wives of Caleb, son of Hezron, several children being mentioned as the fruit of the marriage with one or the other (1 Chronicles 2:18). B.C. post 1856. The Vulgate renders this as the son of Caleb by the first-mentioned wife, and father of the sons named but contrary to the Heb. text, which is closely followed by the Sept. There is probably some corruption; possibly the name in question is an interpolation: compare 1 Chronicles 2:19; or perhaps we should render the connective by even, thus making Jerioth but another name for Azubah.
