a German professor of canon law, was born June 8, 1804, at Marienwerder. He studied at Konigsberg, Berlin, and Gottingen, commenced his academical career at Konigsberg in 1826, was professor there in 1831, and died March 19, 1868. He published, De Codicibus Gregoriano et Hermogeniano (Konigsberg, 1826): — Kirchenrechtliche Versuche zur Begrundung eines Systems des Kirchenrechts (1831): — De Fontibus Juris Ecclesiastici Borussici (1838): — Geschichte der Quellen des Kirchenrechts des Preussischen Staats (1837-44, 3 volumes): — Daas evangelische Kirchenrecht des Preussischen Staates und seiner Provinzen (Halle, 1864-66, 2 volumes).
