an eminent English composer of church music, was born at Cambridge in 1583, and at the age of twenty-three was appointed organist of the Chapel Royal. He died in 1625. He composed the tunes for George Wither's translation of Hymns and Songs of the Church, and many other pieces of church music. See Chalmers, Biog. Dict. s.v.; Allibone, Dict. of Brit. and Amer.
