(Acts 2:11) or Cre'tian (Titus 1:12 and subscr.), a Cretan (Κρής ), or inhabitant of the island of CRETE (See CRETE) (q.v.). Treatises on the notoriously bad character of this people (referred to in the latter passage) have been written in Latin by Hollebeck (Lugd. B. 1798), Peffinger (Argent. 1701), Schmidt (Lips. 1673), and Steger (Lips. 1684).
