an English poet and clergyman, was born near Sherborne, Dorsetshire, in 1659, and entered at Wadham College, Oxford, in 1675. In 1683 he was elected probationer fellow of All-Souls' College. Having taken orders in 1699, he was presented to the living of Welwyn, in Hertfordshire. He put an end to his life in June 1700. See Chalmers, Biog. Dict. s.v.; Allibone, Dict. of Brit. and Amer.
