a Protestant Episcopal clergyman, was born at Providence, R.I., March 5, 1810. He graduated from Brown University, was minister at Lonsdale, R.I., and then assistant to the late Dr. Milnor of New York city, after which he became rector of St. Michael's, Bristol, R.I. He made a voyage to Aspinwall to examine that place and Panama with a view to missionary operations, but was compelled to return on account of broken health. He died in New York, April 12, 1853, being at the time secretary and general agent of the foreign department of the Protestant Episcopal Missionary Board. Mr. Cooke was an ardent and efficient man.
