a Methodist Episcopal minister, was born in West Virginia, April 5, 1790. He entered the Pittsburgh Conference in 1825; in 1842 was transferred to the Rock River Conference; in 1844 became a member of the Iowa Conference, and in 1856 of the Upper Iowa Conference. The following were his appointments: Dubuque, Rock Island, Burlington, Burlington District, De Moines District, Pittsburgh Circuit, Iowa City District, Pioneer Circuit, Lisbon, De Witt, Cedar Rapids, Rockdale, La Motte, Iowa City Circuit, De Witt Circuit. In 1872 he became superannuated, and resided at Oskaloosa, Iowa, where he died, May 4, 1881. Mr. Coleman was an eminently godly man, of catholic spirit and ardent zeal.
