a Baptist minister, was born in New York city, January 1, 1791. He united with the First Baptist Church in 1806, was licensed when young, and for some time was associated with Reverend C.G. Sommers in missionary labors among the destitute of his native city. In 1812 he was ordained in the Tabernacle Church, New York; was pastor at Sing Sing for fourteen years; and then went in 1828 to New York, where for twenty years he was pastor of the North Baptist Church.
