a Methodist Episcopal minister of importance, born in Monroe Co., Penn., Oct. 22,1770, travelled two years, from 1794, in N. J. and Md., emigrated to New England in 1796, and was a pioneer and founder of Methodism there and in Canada. In 1811 he settled at New; Market, N. H. He was several times elected member of Congress from N. Hampshire. He died April 7, 1838. He was a "good man," and " a prince in Israel."
