a French missionary, was born at Beynot, in the diocese of Tulle, Feb. 26, 1808. He was trained from early youth by the Church, and at the age of. fifteen went to the seminary of Servieres. He afterwards studied at the seminary of Tulle, and finally at Paris. He was made deacon March 27, 1830, and soon after priest. He went to Macao the same year as vicar apostolical to the province of Tonquin, and after a series of hardships and persecutions he was finally beheaded by the natives, Nov. 24, 1838.
