a Methodist Episcopal minister, was born at Kingston, N.J., Feb. 24, 1819. He experienced conversion in 1835, began preaching in 1841, and in 1842 entered the New Jersey Conference. In 1852 he was sent to California to assist in planting Methodism on the Pacific coast. In impaired health in 1865, he returned East, labored some time in New York as a pastor, and in 1872 entered the Newark Conference, served four years, and then took a superannuated relation, which he sustained till his death, in June, 1876.
