Belden, William (2),

a Presbyterian minister, was born at Weston, Conn., Aug. 20, 1811. He graduated at Union College in 1835, after which he entered the Union Theological Seminary, where he graduated in 1839. He remained as a resident licentiate one year, and was ordained by the New York Presbytery in 1840. He accepted a, call to Newark, N. J., and continued in this charge for two years. From thence he became a stated supply of the Church in Milford, Pa., which he occupied for two years, and resigned to accept the post of teacher in New York city in 1845. For twenty-seven years he labored unremittingly in this field, while at the same time he took an active interest in the various enterprises of the Church. He died at Dover, N. J., June 18, 1874. (W.
