(Heb. Ashbel', אִשְׁבֵּל, prob. for Eshbaal; Sept. Ἀσβήλ; in Numbers Ἀσουβήλ v. r. Ἀσυβήρ ), the second son of Benjamin (Genesis 46:21; 1 Chronicles 8:1). B.C. 1856. (See JEDIAEL). His descendants were called Ashbelites ( Numbers 26:38). (See BECHER).
