On account of ill-health he located in 1836, and settled in Western Tennessee. In 1840 he joined the Memphis Conference, and, with a short intermission, remained in its ranks until his death, in 1868. Mr. Allen possessed an extensive and accurate knowledge of general literature. He filled acceptably the appointments assigned him, and was twice elected as a delegate to the General Conference.
