Young, John R., D.D.
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
or a Presbyterian minister, was born at Marlborough, N.Y., Oct. 17, 1!820. He graduated at Union College, and subsequently at Union Theological Seminary. After his ordination he became pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Phelps, N.Y.; and subsequently he became stated supply of Painted Post, Baldwinsville, Cortland, and Keesville, all in N. Y. A second pastorate in Plattsburg lasted five years; from Plattsburg he removed to Mamaroneck and from thence; to Newport, R. I. He was pastor at Greenbush, N. Y., for two years, and stated supply at Albany for two years following. After this he served a short time at Newark, N. Y., and at Tecumseh, Mich.; also at Clyde, where he was taken ill, and returned to Albany. He died at Norfolk, Va., July 30,1879. See Necrological Report of Union Theological Seminary.
