a Baptist minister, was born in St. Louis County, Missouri, March 13, 1813. At the age of seventeen he was publicly set apart as his father's assistant in the ministry, and afterwards labored as an evangelist. Among his pastorates were Lexington, Miami, Bethel, St. Joseph, and Glasgow, in Missouri. He died at Glasgow, November 9, 1868. He was conspicuous among the most able ministers of his denomination in the South-west. "His sermons, expositions, and essays before the association for twenty-five years mark him as a man of extraordinary ability, a second Andrew Fuller." See Cathcart, Baptist Encyclop. page 1247.
