Wasuda (or Vasuda)
is the earth in India, a sublime goddess whom they worship alike with the preserver Vishnu. She also carries the surname Surabbi cow of plenty; which is not in the least an unbecoming comparison, as it might seem, because the cow in India is worshipped and held sacred to the gods. In poetry she receives still other surnames: the dark border of the ocean, the sea-bordered earth, etc.
