Walker, John (7)
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
or a Methodist Episcopal minister, was born in Burlington County, N. J. He was converted at Mount Holly in his nineteenth year, received on trial in the Philadelphia Conference in 1802, and appointed to the Trenton Circuit, and subsequently to the following places: Flanders, Salem, Chester, Bristol, Philadelphia, Lancaster, Smyrna, Dauphin, Gloucester, Burlington, New Mills, Freehold, Bargaintown, Camden, and Swedesborough. In 1835 he took a supernumerary relation, and spent the remainder of his life in Clarksborough, where he died April 5, 1849, in the eighty-fifth year of his age. He was a most successful preacher in winning souls. As a man, he was universally beloved; as a Christian, his piety was deep and genuine. See Minutes of Annual Conferences, 4:320.
