a Roman Catholic theologian of Germany, was born in 1815 at Cologne. He received holy orders in 1839, and from 1844 acted as religious instructor of the Catholic College at Cologne, where he died May 12, 1871. He is the author of, Rudimenta Linguae Hebr. (Freiberg, 1860, and often since): Kurze Anleitung zum Erlernem der hebr. Sprache (ibid. 1853, and often): Das Christenthum u. die Einsprü che seiner Gegner (3d ed. ibid. 1870): Der Katholicismus und die Einsprü che seiner Gegner (2d ed. 1869). See Fü rst, Bibl.
