Trumbull, Benjamin, D.D.
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
a Congregational minister, was born in Hebron, Conn., Dec. 19, 1735, graduated at Yale College in 1759, and was ordained December, 1760, pastor at North Haven, where he remained until his death, Feb. 2, 1820. He published, A Discourse Delivered at Freemans Meeting (1773): — A Plea in Vindication of the Connecticut Title to the Contested Lands lying West of the Province of New York, Addressed to the Public (1776): — An Appeal to the Public respecting Divorce (1785): — An ‘ Address on Family Religion (1807): — Twelve Discourses on the Divine Origin of the Scriptures (1810): — A General History of the United States, etc. (eod.): — Two Pamphlets on the Unlawfulness of Marrying a Wife's Sister (eod.): — A Complete History of Connecticut (2 vols. 1797, 1818) - and several occasional Sermons.
