an Irish author, was born at Youghal in 1800, and was educated at Trinity College, Dublin. He went to London in 1829, where he remained until 1847, when he returned to Ireland, to serve the vice regal household in the capacity of statistician. He died in Dublin, Sept. 12,1849. In addition to many works on secular subjects, he wrote, Catechism of the Christian Religion (Lond. 1828, 12mo): History of Mohammedanism and its Sects (1834, 12mo): History of Popery (new ed. 1837,-8vo): Illustrations of the Bible and Confirmations of Sacred History from the Monuments of Egypt (1838, 12mo): History of Christianity from its Promulgation to its Legal Establishment in the Roman Empire (1844, 8vo).
