(אֲרִמַּי, Arummi, Genesis 25:20; Genesis 28:5; Genesis 31:20; Genesis 31:24; Deuteronomy 26:5, 2 Kings 5, 20; fem. אֲרִמַּיּה, Arammiydh, 1 Chronicles 7:14, "Aramitess;" plur. masc. אֲרִמַּי, Arammim, 2 Kings 8:28-29; 2 Kings 16:6 [where the text has ארומים, which the marg. corrects to אֲרוֹמַי, Edomites]; 2 Chronicles 22:5; but "Syrians" is elsewhere the rendering of אֲרִם, Aranz; Σύρος, [Luke 4:27), an inhabitant either of Western Syria, i.e. on the Mediterranean (2 Kings 5, 20), or of Eastern, i.e. Mesopotamia (Genesis loc. cit.).
