Sutcliffe (or Soutcliffe)

Matthew, an English divine, was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge. In 1586 he was installed archdeacon of Taunton, and on Oct. 22, 1588, confirmed dean of Exeter. He died in 1629. He acquired some celebrity by his College of Polemical Divines, which came to naught shortly after his death. Among his works are.
