Starck, Johann Friedrich,

a German theologian, was born Oct. 10, 1680, at Hildesheim, studied theology at Giessen, was appointed in 1715 as pastor of Frankfort-on-the- Main, and died July 17, 1756. He is widely known through his Tagliches Handbuch in guten und bosen Tagen (Frankf. 1727; 48th ed. 1870) and Morgen- und Abendandachten frommer Christen (auftalle Tage im Jahre (9th ed. 1862).
