a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, was born in Benson, Vt., in 1801; and at the age of fifteen joined the Congregational Church. He prepared for college; but relinquished his studies because of failing health, and engaged in teaching and the study of medicine. In 1834 he united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, was licensed to exhort, and in 1835 joined the New England Conference on trial, and was ordained deacon in 1837. He became a member of the Providence Conference at its formation, laboring until 1870, when he superannuated. He died in South Yarmouth, Mass., Jan. 30, 1871.
