a Presbyterian minister, was born at Putney, Vermont, September 29, 1795. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1822, studied one year at Princeton Theological Seminary, ministered at various Presbyterian and Congregational churches in New York, Ohio, and Connecticut, teaching several years meanwhile until 1863, when he removed to California, and in 1879 to Honolulu, where he died, April 6, 1884.
