a Lutheran hymn writer, was born at Alsfeld, and became headmaster of the school at Giessen, and afterwards chief pastor there, where he died in 1727. He is the author of Wer sind die vor Gottes Throne (based on Revelation 7:13-17), transl. into English by E. Cox, in Hymns from the German, p. 91, "Who are these, like stars appearing."
