Pilet, Jean Alexandre Samuel

a Reformed theologian, was born at Yverdon, Switzerland, September 19, 1797. He studied at Lausanne, and was ordained in 1821. In the same year he was called to Morges as director of the college, and in 1828 succeeded Louis Henri Manuel as pastor of the French Reformed Church at Frankfort-on-the-Main. In 1834 he returned to Switzerland, and was in 1836 appointed professor of Biblical literature at Genoa. He died April 5, 1865. Pilet was one of the Old-Test. translators of the French Bible, called the Version de Lausanne. See Chretien Evangeliqae (1868); — A. De Montet, Diction.
