a (Dutch) Reformed minister, was born in Salem, N. Y. in 1784; graduated at Union College in 1804; was tutor in same in 1806-7; was licensed to preach by the Associate Reformed Church in 1808; settled at Lansingburg, N.Y., in 1808-11; entered the Reformed Church as pastor at Rhinebeck Flats, N. Y., in 1812-20; then removed to Market Street Reformed Dutch Church, New York, and died in 1835. His character was distinguished for its beautiful balance and harmony of excellent and gentle qualities. His ministry was remarkable for its fervor, diligence. and uniform success. His Church in New York grew from very small and humble beginnings, and chiefly among a poor people in the then suburbs, to a membership of between five and six hundred communicants. Besides frequent contributions to the periodical press, Dr. McMurray published several valuable occasional discourses (1825,1833).
