a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, was born in the Isle of Skye, coast of Scotland, towards the close of the last century. He came to this country in 1806, joined the South Carolina Conference in 1832, and died at Greenville, S. C., June 9, 1863. "Brother McGilvary was a modest, cheerful, and agreeable man, a faithful friend, and good citizen. As a minister of Christ, he was holy, laborious, and useful." — Conference Minutes of the M. E.
