McCall, Joseph Pinckney
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
or a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, was born in Mississippi; professed religion while young; joined the Methodist Protestant Church, and was soon after licensed to preach. The war breaking out soon after, he went out as a volunteer in the Southern army. After the war he was received into the Methodist Episcopal Church South, and in due course was recommended to the Quarterly Conference and licensed to preach. In 1866 he was received into the Memphis Annual Conference, and was stationed at Wesley Circuit, with Rev. A. R. Wilson as preacher in charge. In 1867 and 1868 he served at Dresden Station. His last appointment was Hickman Station, in Kentucky, where he labored faithfully until his death, April 8, 1870. Mr. McCall was an able and faithful minister of the Gospel, and the Church greatly mourned her early loss. — Minutes of the M. E. Church South, 1870, s.v.
