a Roman Catholic theologian of Germany, was born in 1807 at Aschbach, Franconia. He received holy orders in 1837, was cathedral chaplain at Bamberg in 1838, in 1842 was appointed professor of theology at the lyceum, in 1862 member of the chapter, and died July 22, 1868. He wrote, Geist und Natur im speculativen Systeme Gunther's (Bamberg, 1842): — Der Mensch nach der Glaubenslehre der alten Kirche (1854, 5 volumes): — Commentar uber die Briefe des Johannes (Vienna, 1851): — Aechtheit des Evangeliums nach Johannes (ibid. 1854): — Die patriarchalischen Verheissungen und die messianischen Psalmen (Nordlingen, 1859): — Messianische Prophezeiungen (Vienna, 1863-66, 2 volumes).
