D.D., a Congregational minister. was born in 1693 at Saybrook, Connecticut, graduated at Yale College in 1714, was chosen tutor in 1715, was ordained pastor November 20, 1717, in Norwich, and there preached until his death, March 31, 1784. He was made a member of Yale College corporation in 1740, and remained such till 1772. Dr. Lord published True Christianity explained and exposed, wherein are some Observsatiosns respecting Conversion (1727): Two Sermons on the Necessity of Regeneration (1737): Believers in Christ only the true Children of God, and born of hib alone, a sermon (1742): God glorified in the Works of Providence and Grace: a remarkable instance of it in the various and signal Deliverances that evidently appear to be wrought for Mercy Wheeler, lately restoredy from extreme Impotence and Confinement (1743); and several occasional sermons.
