a distinguished English theologian and antiquarian, was born in Norfolk about 1731. He studied at Caius College, Cambridge, entered the Church, and in 1764 was appointed chaplain to the English factory at Petersburg. He afterwards became successively rector of Wormley, Hertfordshire (in 1783), and minister of the chapel in Broad Court) Drury Lane, London (in 1786). He died Nov. 3, 1787. King wrote The Rites and Ceremonies of the Greek Church in Russia, containing an Account of its Doctrine, Worship, and Discipline (Lond. 1772, 4to): A Letter to the Bishop of Durham, containing some Observations on the Climate of Russia, etc. (Lond. 1778, 4to); etc. See Gent.
